WHY TAKING ACTION IS POSITIVE

It's not always easy to have difficult conversations but they are necessary & today the people of Rusinga Island, Kenya need you to take action. Into the 4th year of a seemingly endless drought and without exception, the population entirely living day to day, frequently going without food to feed their children; unconcerned by their Facebook profile, their next upgraded phone or the political missteps of the ruling classes, they need the tools to help themselves as they already have the ability, motivation and desire to make the future better for their children.

Despite daily hardships, food shortages, endemic HIV-Aids, limited electricity, no running water to name a few, they have come together with my support and have agreed the road out of poverty is creating a community resource centre. Providing a safe area to congregate, training in a wide variety of skills from health awareness, improved farming techniques training & local arts and crafts for young and old; Once built, its easy to see the centre becoming the focal point for all community activities which is why the importance of making it sustainable is paramount. 

​

In order for that to happen, there will be a modest restaurant to cater for those especially who walk long distances & a minimal charge applied. This will ensure the lights stay on, so to speak and the community can build for the future. Think of your donation as a seed that will grow into something strong, positive and beautiful. After living with this community, I firmly believe these people need the hope this resource centre will provide.
